Sport North has developed partnerships with companies that share in our goal to promote and develop sport across the Northwest Territories. For over 60 years, Northwestel has served the largest operating area in the Western hemisphere and played a large hand in transforming communications in Northern Canada. A communications & entertainment leader, Northwestel delivers a broad range of telecommunications solutions & television services to a population of 110,000 northern Canadians in 96 communities scattered throughout the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, northern British Columbia and Alberta.
Northwestel’s operations include local telephone services; long distance communications by microwave radio, fibre optic cable and satellite; cable television, and advanced data communications, including High Speed Internet in many parts of our operating area.
Northwestel has been major sponsor of Sport North since 2006 and has actively supported our programs including the multi-sport games (i.e. Arctic Winter Games, Canada Games and NWT Games). Northwestel is proud to be associated with sport and healthy, active living for residents of the Northwest Territories.
First Air, The Airline of the North, serves the cargo and travel needs of more northern communities than any other air carrier in Canada. Our scheduled service carries approximately 225,000 passengers and over 22 Million kilograms of freight and mail over its vast and comprehensive route system. Today, taking a shopping trip south or flying abroad for vacation takes only a matter of hours, seven days of the week. Important equipment, parts or goods, now often arrive the same day they are ordered.
From the Yukon in the West to Nunavut in the East, our extensive route system covers an amazing 15,500 route miles, connecting 29 northern communities with the major centres of Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg and Edmonton to the South.
Sport North and First Air are pleased to announce a corporate partnership between the two organizations (until 2011). First Air is very excited at the opportunity of working closer with Sport North and all their Territorial Sport Organizations, in building a strong and lasting partnership throughout the Northwest Territories. First Air has always been committed to supporting youth in the communities so they all have an equal opportunity to compete in sport at all levels.
RBC Financial Group announced its exciting new partnership with Sport North. Over the next three years (until 2010), RBC will invest a total of $165,000, through donations and sponsorship. The commitment includes title sponsorship of the Champions for Children Dinner and an annual donation of $25,000 to KidSport.
Through our partnership, the Coast Fraser Tower provides a sport rate to sport organizations and their youth teams. |
