NWT Sport Hall of Fame Celebrates it's Newest Members

Yellowknife, NT (November 24, 2014) – Four (4) athletes, one (1) coach and one (1) builder received NWT’s highest honour as they were welcomed into NWT’s Sport Hall of Fame at the 2014 Induction Ceremony held on Saturday, November 22, 2014.

This year’s inductees include Robin Clegg, a three time Olympian, who grew up in Yellowknife where he grew the roots of his biathlon career, Laurell Graf a builder for the sport of Badminton and women in coaching, and the 1994 Team NWT Junior Men’s Curling Team who won a silver medal at the 1994 Pepsi Canadian Junior Men’s Curling Championships.

“The history of Sport is an integral part of the Federation” said Sport North President, Maureen Miller. “The NWT Sport Hall of Fame Inductions are a  celebration for amateur sport in our territory. These individuals provide inspiration and will help educate the youth of the Northwest Territories. As role models their stories will live on through future generations. It is important that we honour these athletes, coaches and builders in the Hall of Fame and celebrate  their pursuit of excellence.”

All seven inductees have made major contributions to sport in the Northwest Territories and have made their mark on Northwest Territories sport history. Sport North is thrilled to share their stories and help reminisce memories. Congratulations to all of the 2014 NWT Sport Hall of Fame inductees.
