NWTVA Arctic Winter Games Coaches Announced

Yellowknife, October 31, 2017 – The NWT Volleyball Association (NWTVA) is pleased to announce Brandon Thompson as the Women’s Head Coach and Darren Horn as the Men’s Head Coach for the 2018 Arctic Winter Games in South Slave, NT.

Coaching the women’s team is Fort Smith’s Brandon Thompson. Thompson brings with him a wealth of skill and experience through being a players and coach at various levels of volleyball: local through to national level. He has previously coached Team NWT at the 2014 and 2017 North American Indigenous Games. His experience as an assistant coach at the National and college level makes Thompson a perfect fit to help grow the talent of our female players in the Northwest Territories.

Darren Horn, from Yellowknife, will be leading the men’s team at the 2018 Arctic Winter Games. Horn has been part of the NWT Volleyball system for over 25 years in multiple roles: players, coach, official and board member. His overall skill and knowledge of the sport will provide an engaging program to develop our men’s program throughout the north.

Team NWT Men’s and Women’s Volleyball teams will be participating at the 2018 Arctic Winter Games in South Slave, NT, from March 18-24. The Volleyball venue will be hosted in Hay River, NT.

Territorial trials for Team NWT Volleyball will take place from December 7- 9 in Yellowknife.
