Team NWT looks ahead to the 2016 Arctic Winter Games and announces the selection of Cultural Performing Delegates

YELLOWKNIFE (December 2, 2015) – Sport North is pleased to announce the selection of Cultural Performing Delegates who will represent Team NWT at the 2016 Arctic Winter Games.
 
A total of five NWT performing artists and one manager will participate at the 2016 Arctic Winter Games in Nuuk, Greenland, March 6 – 11, 2016.
 
The Double Treble Fiddlers are two sets of twins from Yellowknife, who play traditional fiddle tunes. Anne and Elizabeth Thomas and Sophie and Grace Clark and are lifelong friends who have been playing fiddle together since they were 8 years old. The Team will perform songs written by Northern fiddlers like Andrea Bettger and Colin Adjun, as well as their repertoire of Metis fiddle tunes. The team chaperone is Cayley Thomas.
 
Tiffany Ayalik of Yellowknife is an experienced cultural actor who is well acquainted with Greenlandic cultural performance, and has professional and personal connections in Nuuk. Tiffany will co-chaperone and work with the NWT youth performers during the Workshop Program for youth in Nuuk.
 
While in Nuuk, Team NWT performers will present and collaborate with other cultural delegations at the Katuaq Cultural Centre and other venues.
 
“We are pleased to announce the first Team NWT participants heading to the 2016 AWGs. The culture component at the AWGs is always an exciting area and illustrates the passion of culture and arts we have in the NWT” stated Team NWT Chef de Mission, Doug Rentmeister.
 
Sport North represents the Territorial Sport Organizations of the Northwest Territories, and is dedicated to the development of sport at every level of participation in the Northwest Territories.
