WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST COACHING POSITION:

My first coaching position was at NAIG in 2013 in Regina. There was only 1 female and she did very well!

WHY DO YOU COACH:

I coach to pass on my knowledge of the sport. Wrestling is not very popular so coaches are scarce. I have learnt so much and I want to share it and get the youth as interested as I was when I was competing. Wrestling is a very technical sport, and when I see the talent within the kids, I know I helped them get better at something and gain confidence while working in a team environment, even though its an individual sport.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY:

To teach according to the athlete, to always push them to try even if its hard. I want to see them get over any doubt they have of themselves.

WHO INSPIRES YOU:

Don Reid, the head wrestling coach that I assist now, he is so good with kids of all age groups and always runs a smooth practice. He makes coaching look so easy! Also I cant forget John Himmalman, he was my wrestling coach from grade 4 to grade 12!! He went through great lengths to teach me and my brother and did what he can for us. Through him I realized how important sport is for youth, and how being a great coach can influence an athlete. When you're in a sport for so long, you realize how important their role was in your life growing up.
