WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST COACHING POSITION:
A small rural club in Newfoundland in 1993 - I was a skating judge and was approached by the Section Office in NL
to become a certified coach for the area (Marystown NL) so the club would not fold.
WHY DO YOU COACH:
It’s great to give back to the sport - every time I take some time away from the sport - something draws me back again!
COACHING PHILOSOPHY:
Create a positive learning environment for kids to reach their own potential using an “always do your best” motto.
WHO INSPIRES YOU:
The kids and their love of skating
HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED ANY COACHING BARRIERS:
I have always had support and encouragement from club boards, the certification process can be challenging when
you live in a rural area and coaching is not your full-time job.
