Kidsport

KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. Through a confidential application process we provide grants so they can play a season of sport. Nationally, KidSport is comprised of a network of 11 provincial/territorial KidSport chapters and 166 community KidSport chapters. Since its creation in 1993, over 750,000 kids across the country have been given the chance to play sport through KidSport grants and sport introduction programming.

Mission Statement:

We believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport.

Nationally, KidSport provides support and resources to a network of 177 provincial/territorial and community chapters.  Each chapter manages all operations, including fundraising, application intake and grant distribution for its community or province.

KidSport believes in the values and benefits of kids playing organized sport and we know that sport will provide them with the opportunity to:

Become physically active

Improve their self-esteem and self-confidence

Learn life-long skills

Improve their academic performance

Make new friends

Share and celebrate their culture

Contribute to a strong, healthy community

All applications are received by the KidSport NWT coordinator, Tyler Rentmeister, and then reviewed by the KidSport NWT committee, which is comprised of individuals in the NWT community.  All committee members sign a confidentiality agreement and only have access to required information.  All applications are kept in a secure location and shredded after financial reporting is completed.

The KidSport NWT Committee is currently seeking 2-3 new committee members.  The committee terms of reference are available below.  If you're interested, please submit a letter stating why you would be a a good addition to the Committee as well as a resume to tylerrent@sportnorth.com
