Since 1967 the Northwest Territories has participated in both Canada Winter and Canada Summer Games, and every Arctic Winter Games since 1970.  This has been made possible through Sport North & Lottery funding.  It is estimated that over 13000 athletes, coaches, mission staff and officials have represented the NWT in these multi-sport events.

Arctic Winter Games Registration - NEW PROCESS

Please be advised that the registration process for Arctic Winter Games has changed, please review the details below before registering.

Step 1: Athlete Registration

  • Athletes wishing to attend the Territorial Trials must register no later than November 10 at 5:00 p.m.

  • Athletes may register for only one sport

  • Late registrations will not be accepted

  • Registration does not guarantee participation in the Territorial Trials (see Step 2)

  • No payment is required at this stage

  • Register

Step 2: Territorial Sport Organization Selection Process

  • Registrations will be forwarded to the appropriate Territorial Sport Organization (TSO)

  • If the number of athletes registered in a region exceeds the sport’s Technical Package limit, the TSO will conduct a regional selection process to determine which athletes will participate in the Trials

  • TSOs will notify selected athletes no later than December 15

  • Only those athletes confirmed by the TSO will be permitted to move forward to the Territorial Trials

Step 3: Confirmation & Payment

  • Only athletes approved by their TSO to participate in the Territorial Trials will be required to:

    • Submit payment, and

    • Complete a Code of Conduct form

  • All payments and forms must be received by Sport North by 5:00 p.m. on December 29

  • Links to the forms and payment instructions will be sent directly to the athletes participating in Territorial Trials only

  • Athletes without a chaperone will not be permitted to attend the Territorial Trials

  • **Chaperones will be required to register, pay, and have all forms submitted for the Territorial Trials by 5:00 p.m. on December 29.  Chaperones must register

Registration Information

  1. Athlete: Select the age category that your birthdate falls within. Coach/Chaperone: Select any applicable age category you are coaching/chaperoning

  2. Register online via appropriate participant link by visiting: https://www.sportnorth.com/teamnt

  3. Pay via the below 3 options:

    • Online via below payment link

    • E-Transfer to: finance@sportnorth.com NOTE: payee must identify name of participant and sport you are sending the registration fee for

    • In Person at Sport North: 1st Floor – Don Cooper Building, 4908 49th Street, Yellowknife

  4. Deadline

    • November 30th 2025, 11:59 pm: Coaches and Athletes: submit forms, payment, registration, CRC or EPIC (if athlete is 18 years or older)or VSC (coaches)​​​

    • December 10th 2025, 5:00 pm: Chaperone: submit forms, payment, registration and VSC

  5. Receive communication from TSO AND Regional Coordinator of complete registration

  6. Attend Territorial Trials: January 7th-11th 2026
