WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST COACHING POSITION:

My first official coaching position was Snowshoe biathlon coach for AWGs in 1992.

WHY DO YOU COACH:

Initially, I started coaching when I had enough skills to assist others in learning a new sport. Now, I coach to ensure that there are activities for youth in my community to participate in. My children have participated in biathlon for a few years, and I have been assistant coaching and learning more about the sport.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY:

Biathlon is an individual sport and as such, it’s important to stress that all team members are to support and encourage each other. You need to have the focus and the discipline to build on your strengths and exhibit sportsmanship at all times. Safety is our number one priority.

WHO INSPIRES YOU:

All of those who made biathlon in the NWT what it is today. It's people like Pat Bobinski who worked tirelessly to introduce the sport to others and build the facilities to train. Patti-Kay and Don for bringing the sport to Fort Smith and providing expertise and leadership for others in the sport. And the AWG athletes I work with; their confidence in
their abilities and determination got them where they are today.
